The Maine Coast

Near Ogunquit Maine - an area of expensive shops and art galleries overrun with rich tourists. I got outta there quick!

On the Road back to Laconia

I picked Rt. 109 to get back to the Laconia area. It was a good choice.

I kept passing spots like this along the way.

After crossing over into New Hampshire from Maine, you end up in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire.

Wolfeboro, NH

Wolfeboro has the distinction of being known as "The Oldest Summer Resort in America." More than 200 years ago, New Hampshire's colonial Governor John Wentworth built a summer home here.

Wolfeboro, NH

This is an absolutely beautiful colonial-looking town located directly on pristine Lake Wentworth. The town was incorporated in 1770.

Back to Laconia

From its first Indian inhabitants nearly 10,000 years ago, through today's diverse group of residents and visitors, Laconia has been both the geographical and recreational center of New Hampshire.

Weirs Beach is the recreational center of the City of Laconia.

I ran into my friend Bill Van Acker while cruising along Weir's Beach.

This is what that very same spot looks like for one week during early June.

Laconia, NH

The Laconia motorcycle rally started in 1916 and is the oldest motorcycle rally in the US. I was not here for this - I snagged this picture off the web.

On the road back to Rochester.

I picked Rt. 4 to take back to Rochester. Again, this was an excellent choice. Pictured here is one of the many nice attractions along the way, Quechee Gorge in Vermont.

This is a scene along the way - The Green Mountains National Forest along Rt. 4 near Killington, Vermont.
